Windows 11 - should you upgrade ?
Windows 11 is the newset version of windows from Microsoft. Windows 11 will only install or upgrade on new computers less than 2 years old as it has quite high hardware requirements. This means that for the vast majority of people, if you want Windows 11, you will have to buy a new computer. You can check to see if your computer will upgrade to Windows 11 through Windows Settings, Update & Security.
If you have Windows 10, my adfvice is to stick with it, as there is little difference between Windows 10 and Windows 11 and there are no big features in Windows 11 that are worth the upgrade. Microsoft say they will stop support for Windows 10 in 2025, but thats not going to happen. There are currently 1.5 billion computers running Windows 10, so unless they want millions of unhappy customers, support will carry on for many years to come.
Windows 7 - Windows 8 - Windows 8.1 can all be upgraded to Windows 10, without losing any data or apps, please ring for details. NEWS - Microsoft have stopped free upgrades from older Windows to Windows 10.
Other options - Linux is a free operating system, that will run most of the popular software, browsers, office, email etc. and will run on older computers. So, rather than dumping your old computer and adding to to the environmental damage caused by landfill, why not try Linux. You'll be saving the planet, and saving money !
